W naszym regionie, jak i w innych rejonach znajdujących się wzdłuż wybrzeża prowadzi się intensywną hodowlę ryb na farmach rybnych, gdzie znajdują się duże sieci opuszczane do morza. To właśnie w nich ryby są przetrzymywane aż do czasu przygotowania ich do sprzedaży. W takich obiektach znajdują się przede wszystkim łososie. Zbadaliśmy wpływ tych działań na środowisko morskie. Rozmawialiśmy z profesjonalistami, którzy wyjaśnili, że konsekwencje dla dna morskiego wokół zakładów są dość negatywne i że należy wykonać wiele pracy, aby ten biznes był zrównoważony dla środowiska w perspektywie długoterminowej.

In our area of Norway and elsewhere along the coast, there has been a lot of production of fish in fish farms. These are large nets that are lowered into the sea where the fish are held captive until they are slaughtered. Then it is prepared for sale as food. Salmon in particular live in such facilities. We investigated the impact of these activities on the environment in the sea around the facilities. We spoke to professionals who explained that the consequences for the seabed around the plants are quite negative, and that a lot of work needs to be done for this business to be sustainable for the environment in the long term.
