Przez lata Kristiansund charakteryzowało się niższym poziomem wykształcenia ludności w stosunku do innych porównywalnych miast. Przeprowadziliśmy badanie, które wykazało, że zarówno w skali regionalnej, jak i krajowej Kristiansund znajduje się znacznie poniżej średniej pod względem poziomu wykształcenia mieszkańców. Odkryliśmy, że istnieją ku temu historyczne powody. Obecnie miasto jest w trakcie pozyskiwania nowych rodzajów miejsc pracy i instytucji szkolnictwa wyższego, które mogą poprawić sytuację. Młodzi ludzie, którzy chcą pozostać lub przeprowadzić się z powrotem, muszą mieć jasność co do celów miasta związanych z poprawą atrakcyjności.
 

Over the years, Kristiansund has been characterized by the fact that the population has had a lower level of education than other comparable cities. We conducted a study that shows that both regionally and nationally, Kristiansund is far below the average in terms of educational level. Wefound that there are historical reasons for this. Now the city is in the process of getting new types of jobs and higher education institutions that can help the situation. Young people who want to stay or move back must be clear about the direction we want the city to go in order for it to be attractive to settle here.
